Two walls of glass, one remote

The marketing director of an Austin real estate firm had the best office in the building and the worst afternoon glare. Textured light-filtering roller shades, motorized, fixed that.

The brief

Keep the view. Lose the glare.

A corner office on an upper floor: trees to the horizon on one side, a parking lot and afternoon sun on the other. Good for morale, bad for a laptop screen.

The brief was a shade that disappears when it is up, reads as texture rather than plastic when it is down, and moves without anyone standing on a chair. Blackout was never on the table; the view is the point.

We fitted textured light-filtering roller shades across both glass walls, motorized, with a single hand-held remote, so the whole corner drops in one press when the sun comes around.

How it came together

One office, one order

Consult

We watched the sun path across the desk. Light filtering in a warm neutral keeps the room bright and the screen readable.

Samples

Textured weaves held against the window and judged from the desk, where the shade is actually seen.

Measure

Each pane measured for an inside mount so the shades sit inside the mullions and line up across the corner.

Install

Motors paired to one remote, every shade set to the same lower limit. Installed in one visit.

The details

What a one-office order looks like

Product
Light-filtering roller shades in a textured weave. Softens the sun, keeps the view.
Mount
Inside mount in each mullion bay so the headrails align across the corner.
Control
Motorized, one hand-held remote with a group channel for the whole corner.
Why not blackout
The office is used for calls and screen work, not sleep. Light filtering keeps it bright.
Lead time
Made to measure. Roller orders install 3 to 10 days after the measure.
Who did what

“If a shade is motorized and set to the same limit on every window, people actually use it. If it has a chain, they do not.”Rolli design team
