The brief

Contemporary and laid back

1color, whole house
2opacities
1tall stair window

A contemporary family house in one of Austin’s newer neighborhoods: open kitchen and living room, a double-height stair, bedrooms on the quiet side.

The owners wanted the window treatments to be one decision, not ten. Light-filtering roller shades in Limestone across the common areas keep the rooms bright and the view soft. The primary bedroom gets the same color in blackout.

The nursery gets a white blackout shade for naps. From the hallway every window in the house reads the same: one clean roll, one quiet color.

How it came together

One sample, every window

Consult

Samples held against the walls in the kitchen and the primary. One color, Limestone, for the whole house.

Measure

Each opening measured by the installer, including the double-height stair window.

Make

Rollers made to measure in Limestone, light filtering for the living spaces, blackout for the primary.

Install

Installed by Rolli, room by room.

Who did what
Rolli: consult, samples, measure, made to measure, installation.

“When one color runs through a whole house, the shades stop being a decision in every room and start being part of the architecture.”Rolli design team
